La famille annonce avec grande tristesse son décès suite à une lutte courte et courageuse avec le cancer, entouré de sa famille, le mercredi 5 février 2025 à l’Hôpital de Timmins et du district à l’âge de 63 ans.
Époux bien-aimé depuis 40 ans de Diane Riopel (née Hébert). Cher père de Stéphanie Neufeld (Michael) et pépére adoré de Jacob, Logan et Madison. Parrain de Tonya Raymond, Marie-Josée Courchesne, Joelle Charbonneau et Brad Raymond.
Il laisse également dans le deuil ses frères et sœurs Marcel, Yvon (Anne Marie), Thérèse Vachon (Fernand), Hélène Vincent (Aurèle, Olivier 2014), Jean-Louis (Trish), François, Léonard, Henri (Bobbi), Daniel et Hubert, ainsi que ses belles-sœurs Gaetanne (Clément), Monique, Thérèse, Renée, Carol, Lynn, Claire, Sylvie et Doreen. Etienne laisse aussi dans le deuil de nombreux neveux, nièces, cousins, cousines et amis.
Il fût prédécédé par ses parents Fernand et Madeleine (née Quesnel) Riopel, son frère Jacques (Jocelyne) Riopel, Jean-Pierre Riopel, sa sœur Carmen Larivière (feu Richard), ses beaux-parents Simone et Armand Hébert et par son beau-frère Dan Raymond.
Etienne était un époux dévoué, ainsi qu’un père et pépére très fier. Sa famille était toujours sa plus grande joie, surtout ses petits-enfants. Il chérissait chaque moment passé avec eux. Il était connu pour son empathie et son altruisme, en appuyant et guidant les autres avec gentillesse et générosité. Son sens d’humour pouvait illuminer n’importe quelle pièce en apportant des rires à tous et toutes. Avec une très bonne éthique de travail et une dévotion sans relâche envers ses proches, l’héritage d’Etienne demeurera dans le cœur de ceux et celles qui le connaissait.
Il avait une profonde passion pour la chasse et la pêche, des activités qui lui apportaient immense joie et lui permettaient de connecter avec la nature. Il aimait ses intérêts des activités en plein air avec sa famille et ses amis, tout en leur enseignant des valeurs telles que la patience, la persévérance et l’excitement d’une belle prise.
Etienne et Diane étaient les fiers propriétaires de Chevy’s Bait, une entreprise locale à Porcupine, qui était un pilier bien-aimé de la communauté. Son dévouement à offrir un service de qualité supérieure et sa passion pour son métier ont fait de Chevy’s Bait non seulement un magasin, mais un lieu où les amis se rassemblaient et s’échangeaient des histoires.
Un grand merci à sa famille de travail à Custom Concrete ainsi qu’à des amis spéciaux, « la famille Charbonneau », pour leurs amitiés fidèles au fil des années. La famille aimerait également remercier le personnel des services médicaux B et C et de l’hospice de l’Hôpital de Timmins et du district pour leur compassion et leurs soins exceptionnels.
Une Célébration de la vie aura lieu le dimanche 9 février 2025 de 11 h à 14 h à la SALLE DE RÉCEPTION LESSARD. Un goûter sera servi. Vos témoignages de sympathie peuvent se traduire par un don à la Fondation de l’Hôpital de Timmins et du district.
The family announces with great sorrow his death, after a short and courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by his family on Wednesday February 5, 2025 at the Timmins and District Hospital at the age of 63.
Loving husband of 40 years to Diane Riopel (nee Hébert). Dear father of Stéphanie Neufeld (Michael), and cherished pépére of Jacob, Logan and Madison. Godfather to Tonya Raymond, Marie-Josée Courchesne, Joelle Charbonneau, and Brad Raymond.
He is also survived by his siblings Marcel, Yvon (Anne Marie), Thérèse Vachon (Fernand), Hélène Vincent (Aurèle, Olivier 2014), Jean-Louis (Trish), François, Léonard, Henri (Bobbi), Daniel and Hubert, as well as his sisters-in-law Gaetanne (Clement), Monique, Thérèse, Renée, Carol, Lynn, Claire, Sylvie and Doreen. Etienne is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was predeceased by his parents Fernand and Madeleine (nee Quesnel) Riopel, his brother Jacques (Jocelyne) Riopel, Jean-Pierre Riopel, his sister Carmen Larivière (late Richard), his parents-in-law Simone and Armand Hébert and his brother-in-law Dan Raymond.
Etienne was a devoted husband, proud father, and pépére. His family was always his greatest joy, especially his grandchildren. He cherished every moment spent with them. He was known for his selflessness, always putting others first and taking everyone under his wings with kindness and generosity. His sense of humor could light up any room, bringing laughter to all who knew him. With a strong work ethic and a relentless dedication to his loved ones, Etienne’s legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
He had a deep passion for hunting and fishing, pursuits that brought him immense joy and allowed him to connect with nature in a way few could understand. His love for the outdoors was something he shared with his family and friends, teaching them the values of patience, perseverance, and the thrill of a good catch.
Etienne and his wife were the proud owners of Chevy’s Bait, a local business in Porcupine that was a beloved staple in the community. His dedication to providing top-quality service and his passion for the craft made Chevy’s Bait not just a store, but a place where friends gathered and shared stories.
A warm thank you to the Custom Concrete family as well as their special friends ‘’ The Charbonneau family’’ for their loyal friendships throughout the years. They would also like to thank the TDH Staff on Medical B, C and Hospice for all of their compassion and care.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday February 9, 2025 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at LESSARD RECEPTION CENTRE. A luncheon will be served. Remembrance donations to the Timmins and District Hospital Foundation would be greatly appreciated.
