Ethel Parmegiani Obituary
Ethel Kathleen Parmegiani, born April 12, 1938, is preceded in death by her husband Giuseppe (Joe) Parmegiani, son David Joseph Parmegiani, and father William Radeford. She is survived by her daughter Debra, beloved granddaughters Angela Pearson (Chris), Lauren Lavric, and great-granddaughter Annabelle Pearson. She leaves behind her brother William Radeford (Darlene), sister Judith Dunphy (Paul), forever friend Sandra Fletcher (Colin), chosen daughter Doreen Crilley (Gord), sister-in-law Carol Parmegiani (Pasquale), and brother-in-law Claudio Vinci (Mary).
Ethel walked a challenging path with grace. She came to the Catholic faith at a young age, drawn to the traditions and prayer as a child. She was devout member of the St. Dunstan’s parish and the Catholic Women’s League.
Ethel worked for the Province of NB Public Safety Records Management Branch for many years. She was known as a dedicated and hard working employee, always willing to help her fellow employees. Ethel delayed retirement owing to gratification in her work and rapport with colleagues.
Her hobbies were diverse, she hand knit socks and mittens as gifts and donations, her embroidered pillow cases were beautiful. In earlier years she was an ardent clogger. She was an avid reader; always absorbed in a book or the daily paper. Ethel loved nothing better than to have family and friends in for tea, serving her famous banana bread and almond fingers,
Ethel had infinite love for her granddaughters, supportive of their lives, hobbies and education. She could discuss the intricacies of dance and speed skating at length, revelling in their accomplishments. Great-granddaughter Annabelle arrived at a time when joy was needed most. Photos and updates about Annabelle were a popular topic at her apartment.
As difficult as it was to leave Fredericton, the Chateau Champlain in Saint John quickly became home. The wonderful care provided by staff was nothing short of a blessing.
The personal support workers provided by Kindred Home Care & Joan’s Home Care looked after her every need and guided us through every step in the journey. The friendships developed with the PSW’s gave us a second family, providing joy, laughter, and celebration. We will be forever grateful for these women.
Visitation will be held Friday February 21st, between 6-8pm, at Fundy Funeral Home.
A public memorial service will held Saturday, February 22nd, at St. Dunstan’s Church, 120 Regent Street, Fredericton, at 1:30 pm.
