Erwin Donnelly Obituary
Erwin Gregory Donnelly
It is with profound sadness that we the family of Erwin Gregory Donnelly of Jacquet River, announce his passing at the age of 66 at the Georges L. Dumont Hospital, surrounded by his wife, and family members on January 03, 2025 after a long battle with Cancer.
Erwin was pre-deceased by his parents, the late Marion (Hodgin) Donnelly (1965) and Hubert Donnelly (2007). He is survived by his beloved wife, Brenda Donnelly of Jacquet River, NB, their two sons, Adam Donnelly (Kelsey) of Bathurst, NB, and Grant Donnelly (Jessica) of Moncton, NB., along with four special Grandchildren, Olivia and Grayson of Bathurst, NB, and Liam and Ava of Moncton, NB.
Also left behind were his siblings Larry Donnelly, Ron Donnelly, Lloyd Donnelly (Audrey) of Jacquet River NB, and Shirly McLeod (Donald) of Brampton, ON. His mother-in-law Avelda Noel (late Kenneth) of Riverview, NB, his brothers and sisters-in-law Linda Savoie (late Wayne) of Dieppe, NB, Nancy Guitard (Paul) of Jacquet River, NB, Sandra Daudlin (Shelby) of Moncton, NB, Kevin Noel (Tina) of Memramcook, NB, Norma Brooks (Chuck) of Riverview, NB and Rodney Noel (Wendy) of Moncton, NB. Also, many nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends far and near.
Erwin was a dedicated employee of Glencore Smelter for the duration of his career—he worked as an Industrial Mechanic Millwright for 38 years.
Erwin truly enjoyed the simple things in life. He had a true passion for the outdoors and all things nature, whether it was through wildlife and birdwatching, capturing moments through the lens of his camera, or simply soaking in all that nature has to offer from his patio at home. When looking at his home, every tree, flower, and shrub was planted by Erwin himself, tending to them year-round. His love for the outdoors even extended to the task of cutting his firewood, a responsibility that was an enjoyable hobby for Erwin even though it was hard work.
Erwin spent hours setting up his cameras and hunting stands in the woods, always preparing for next season’s moose hunt. Many memories were made between Erwin and his friends on their moose hunts. He truly adored his friends and the connection they held. He loved talking on the phone, catching up whenever he could.
Erwin put many miles on the Belledune rink. From when Adam and Grant were young boys, when Erwin coached their teams, right up until playing in his Senior Leagues twice a week with his hockey buddies.
Above all, Erwin loved his family the most. Brenda and Erwin created a beautiful life together, raising two boys, whom he was dearly proud of. Olivia, Grayson, Liam, and Ava stole his heart like no other. Erwin’s love for his grandchildren was evident in the way his face lit up whenever he spoke of them or spent time in their presence. He delighted in sneaking photos of them, preserving cherished moments.
He will truly be missed.
A funeral service will be held at the St. Gabriel’s Church, Jacquet River on Friday, January 10, 2025 at 11am. Funeral arrangements are in the care of MacMillan & Drapeau Funeral Home, Black Point. Immediately following the service, everyone is invited to the Jacquet River Legion for a luncheon and to pay their respects.
