Passed away peacefully at McNally house Hospice, on Wednesday February 5, 2025, surrounded by her family, at the age of 71, after a courageous battle with cancer. Dearly loved mother to Amy Elizabeth Freeman (Michael) and Drew Ransom Cochren (Amanda). Cherished Grandmother (Ga) to Emma James Freeman, Colby Frederick Cochren, and Henley Mae Cochren.
Ellen was born in Buffalo, NY in 1953, daughter of the late Roger and Marjorie (nee Abbott) Ransom. Years later, Ellen and her parents moved to Burlington, Ontario where she met her husband Paul (predeceased) and they started their family. Ellen graduated from Amherst Central Junior High School in Amherst, NY and from Aldershot High School in Burlington, ON. She then went on to attain a Bachelor of Science in Business Management.
Ellen had a long career with Navistar Canada retiring after 32.5 years of service and was a member of the International Harvester Managerial Retirees. Ellen was a member of Katharine Pratt Horton Buffalo Chapter, National Society of Daughters of the American Revolution (N.S.D.A.R.) and Burlington Golf and Country Club. From her childhood to adulthood Ellen was a die-hard Buffalo Bills fan where she and her family have held season tickets since 1960.
As per Ellen’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at St. Luke’s Anglican Church, 1371 Elgin Street, Burlington ON L7S 1G1 on Thursday, February 13, 2025 at 10 a.m. followed by a committal service at The Columbarium at St. Luke’s Cemetery.
