Mrs. Ellen (Nellie) Ryan of Spaniards Bay, passed peacefully away at her home surrounded by loved ones on Feb 1, 2025. Mrs. Ryan was 101 years old.
Left to mourn with precious memories are her loving family:
Sons: Thomas (Carol), James (Ruby), John (Philomena), Leo (Marilyn)
Daughters: Rita (Edward-deceased), Kathleen (Don), Mary, Eileen (Chuck)
Special Nephew Sean Ash (Judy). Along with her 22 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren whom she loved dearly and a large circle of close family and friends.

Parents: Patrick and Mary Ash
Parents-in-law: James and Sarah Ryan
Husband: Leo Ryan
Brother: Daniel Ash (Elizabeth)
Sisters: Agnes (Jack) Crane, Josephine (Ray) Smith, Thersa Jarvis, Kay (Ivan) Wray.
Son-in-law: Edward Maher.
Nellie was a kind and gentle soul, with a great sense of humor. She will be greatly missed but will live forever in the hearts of those who loved her.
The family would like to send a special thanks to Dr. Calvin Powell and staff, and Charlotte Bidgood from the Community Health Palliative Care Program who provided great compassion and support.
As expressions of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her loving memory to a charity of one’s choice.
The family will be receiving relatives and friends at Slade’s Funeral Home, 488 CBN HWY, Spaniards Bay on Monday: 2-5 and 7-9 P.M., Tuesday: 10:30 A.M. – 12 Noon, 2-5 and 7-9 P.M. and Wednesday: 9:30 – 10:30 A.M.
The Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, February 5, 2025 at 11 A.M from St. Joseph’s R.C. Church, Riverhead, Harbour Grace. Interment will follow at St. Anne’s R.C. Cemetery, Spaniard’s Bay.
