Ella Maria Kurtz (nee Held) passed away peacefully with her daughter Marilyn by her side, at the Country Lane Long Term Care – Chatsworth, Ontario, on Thursday February 6, 2025 in her 95th year.
Predeceased by her husband, Alfred, her son Eric, her brothers Rudy and Eric Held and her parents Eduard and Olga (Barth) Held as well as her brothers-in-law John Buchenauer, Ernst Wildeman and sister-in-law Lynn (Wallace) Held.
She will be deeply missed by her children, Marilyn and David Hammer, Randy and Linda (Williams) Kurtz, Linda and Gunner Couce, her daughter-in-law, Barbara Warren (Eric), her grandchildren, Mark (Bethany), Adam (Erin), Johnathan (Lindsay), Sarah (Dan), Samantha (Matt), Benjamin (Bailee) and her 9 great grandchildren. Loving sister to Frieda Wildeman, Olga Buchenauer and Richard Held.
Mom was loved by everyone whose lives she touched. She was gracious, kind and giving, always thinking of others and her home was an open door to all, a hive of activity. She loved to laugh, was an avid gardener, loved to create and sew, and could cook and bake up a storm.
Arrangements are in the care of Grey Bruce Cremation and Burial Services.
There will be an informal celebration of her life with her family at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Alzheimer’s Society would be appreciated.
