July 8, 1939 – March 25, 2025
It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Ella Nawrot (nee Richter) on March 25, 2025, in Cambridge, Ontario, at the age of 85. Survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Walter Nawrot, whom she married on December 27, 1958. Treasured and proud Mom to her 5 children, Patricia Renaud (late Phillip), Shirley Findeis (Peter), Michael Nawrot (Nicki), Susan Nawrot, and Angela Enns (Russell). Cherished Oma to Steven, Katie, Cassandra and Gabrielle.
Ella is predeceased by her older sisters Mary Schwier (Cambridge 2013) and Anne Wipfler (California 2025).
Ella emigrated to Canada shortly after WWII in 1947 with her family to Guelph, Ontario from Georgswald, Germany. Ella loved playing sports like basketball and running, but her specialty was broad jumping and she won many medals. She met Walter at a German dance at the age of 19 and the rest they say is history. Ella and Walter enjoyed golfing together, doing cryptic crossword puzzles every day with their coffee, going to Florida in their retirement and spending time with friends and family. Ella loved flowers and enjoyed tending to her gardens. She was a sweet, gentle and loving Mom whose smile could make anyone feel better. She had a very witty side to her and an absolute no-nonsense pragmatic side that was necessary to raise five children!
A longtime member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Ella was very strong in her faith. It is comforting to know that she will now be peaceful in Heaven.
The family would like to extend our sincere thanks for the wonderful care received from Dr. Tamara Holling and Michelle Hicks, RPN.
In accordance with Ella’s wishes, a service will be held for Family and Friends on Friday, April 4th at Corbett Funeral Home, 95 Dundas St. N. Cambridge Ontario. Visitation will start at 1 pm with the service at 2 pm, followed by refreshments.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Canadian Red Cross.
