Elizabeth Irene Poelzer passed away peacefully on Monday, January 6th, 2025, in Craik, SK. Born on July 6th, 1925, in Tuxford, SK, Elizabeth, affectionately known as “Betty,” was the cherished only child of Clarice and Elliot Ranson. A tomboy and a daddy’s girl, she loved helping her father with chores and projects around the house and yard.
Betty married her first husband, Clayton Richard Sorenson, and together they welcomed twin daughters, Judy and Joan, in November 1943, followed by a son, Lyle, in January 1950. She dedicated herself to being a stay-at-home mom until her children were older, then worked full-time as a bookkeeper at Busse Plumbing and Heating in Moose Jaw, SK. Clayton passed away in 1974.
Betty had a zest for life and a variety of hobbies. She enjoyed reading, dancing, playing games, and solving word puzzles, but her greatest joy came from spending time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her parents; husbands, Clayton Richard Sorenson and Patrick Joseph Poelzer; children, Judy and Lyle; great-granddaughters: Tiffany Cox, Stephanie “Noel” Cox, Emily Forbes, and Abbey McAuley; and son-in-law, Dick McNaughton.
