Elizabeth “Beppie” Vanlier (nee Vanderhorst) Obituary
Elizabeth “Beppie” Vanlier was born on July 9, 1937 in the town of Wateringen, Netherlands. She was born into a family of 16 and was a hard worker from a young age in her family’s butcher shop. She met her husband Koos (Jake) and they moved to Canada in 1958. They were married in Lindsay, Ontario in June 1959. In 1960 they welcomed their first daughter, Maria and in 1961 welcomed their second daughter, Monica.
The family worked hard to save up and purchased their first restaurant, the Kinvale Inn, in 1968. In 1973 they moved to Lindsay and purchased the Durham Cafe. In 1983 they settled in Bobcaygeon and opened the El Toro, which they proudly owned until 2005 when they retired.
She will be dearly missed by her family; Koos, Maria (Ed) and predeceased by Monica (Terry). Loving Oma to Alicia (Adam), Shauna, Jacob and predeceased by Nick. Proud Great Oma to Ava, Alexandria and Jordan.
She will be sadly missed by close family and friends and remembered for her outgoing personality, impeccable fashion and always wearing a pair of heels to match every outfit.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, March 8 from 10:00AM -3:00PM at the Vanlier’s personal residence.
