Elizabeth Ann Wrigley
It is with heavy hearts to announce the passing of Elizabeth Ann Wrigley after losing
a battle with dementia. She has made her trip to Heaven surrounded by her loved
ones at St. Joseph Hospital on Thursday, January 16th, 2025.
To her family and friends, she was known as “Betty”, daughter to Andrew and Anna
Bahlieda. Betty was born on October 5th, 1950 in Thunder Bay and later met and
married the love of her life, Wayne Wrigley, in 1971. She worked and lived in
Thunder Bay throughout her entire life and after raising three active boys, she found
a fulfilling career with City Hall in Thunder Bay, retiring from the City Clerk’s office,
along the way building and cherishing relationships with her coworkers.
Her spare time consisted of spending time with family and friends, as well as her cat,
Sam. She also enjoyed playing cards, crafting, going for long walks, even longer
drives, stealing away for ice cream sundaes and to the movies with her loving
husband. In Betty’s younger days she enjoyed roller skating with her best friends at
Fort William Gardens and then sharing her love of the sport with her sons at
Wheelies. Later, after retirement, she enjoyed travelling with Wayne to visit her family
in Oshawa and Halifax with the occasional fishing trip to Upsala where she always
out-fished the boys.
Betty will forever live in the hearts of her loved ones: Husband Wayne, her three
sons, Christian (Elizabeth), Aaron (Andrea), and Shawn (Lisa), and her
grandchildren Matthew, Lillianne, Dexter, Dana, Scarlett, Sloan, and Carter. She will
be dearly missed by her brother Ken (Elaine) Bahlieda, and her Uncle Peter Ilkew,
and numerous nieces, nephews and relatives throughout the country.
Interment of Betty’s ashes and a celebration of life will be held at a future date. In
lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Alzheimer Society or St. Peter’s Church.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Simpler Times Cremation Centre, 575 Central
Avenue, Thunder Bay.
