Obituary of Elaine Campbell
Ida Elaine Campbell, 82, New Glasgow, formerly of Fraser’s Mountain and Plymouth Park, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, January 8, 2024.
Born in Sunny Brae, she was a daughter of the late John Ross and Geraldine Mildred (Williams) Chisholm. Elaine was employed with the former Trenton Works (Hawker Siddeley) in the early years and later as a cook at Valley View Villa. Elaine was a 45+ year member and leader in TOPS where she made many lifelong friends. She was also a fantastic baker, knitter and loved her cross-stitch cougar, Chester, that took three solid years to complete.
Surviving are her daughters, Maria (Christopher) Caines, Halifax; Wendy Campbell, Halifax; son, Dan (Susan) Campbell, Fraser’s Mountain; grandchildren, Michael (Lisa), Racheal (Mark), Daniel, Morghen (Hannah), and Mason; sister, Geraldine Bennett, Stellarton; great-grandchildren, Kayden and Kinsley, and several nieces and nephews. Elaine and Simon were also foster parents to several children over the years.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Simon; sisters, Barbara and Sylvia in infancy; brother-in-law, Robert Bennett.
The family will receive visitors from 2-4 p.m. Saturday, January 11 in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow. A private graveside service will be held in Sunny Brae Cemetery in the spring.
Donations may be made in memory of Elaine to The Lung Association of Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island or Hope for Wildlife .
