Ekaterini “Kathy” Egglezos, a beacon of love and strength, passed away peacefully on August 7, 2025, in Windsor, Ontario. Born on January 18, 1946, in the picturesque village of Apollona, Rhodes, Greece, Kathy’s journey was one marked by courage, selflessness, and an unwavering commitment to her family and community.
Predeceased by her beloved husband, Michael Egglezos, in 2008, Kathy’s legacy of love continues through her devoted children, Bill (Evy) Egglezos, George (Aimee Omstead) Egglezos, and Mary (Brandon) Zincone. Cherished Yiayia of Micah, Alexa, Noah, Christina, Mateah, Nataliah, Anthony, and Katerina, instilling in them the values of family, heritage, and kindness. Predeceased by her parents, George and Maria Palazis, and her siblings, Irene, Manolis, Evanthia, and Mihalis. Her memory will also be honored by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, both in Canada and Greece, who will miss her dearly.
Kathy’s early life was shaped by adversity when she lost her father at the tender age of twelve. Displaying resilience beyond her years, she began working to support her family in Rhodes. At twenty-two, Kathy embarked on a brave new chapter, immigrating to Canada in pursuit of a better life. She quickly became an integral part of her community, working at the former Greyhound Bus Station Restaurant. As a cornerstone of the family diner, Kathy formed lasting bonds with customers and bus drivers alike, her caring nature leaving a lasting impression on all she met.
When her husband fell ill, Kathy demonstrated her characteristic selflessness by leaving her job to provide him with unwavering care and support. Her dedication to her family was unparalleled, and her strength during this time was an inspiration to all who knew her.
No gathering was complete without Kathy’s traditional Greek meals, which she prepared with a blend of culinary skill and maternal warmth.
Kathy’s life was one filled with love, courage, and selflessness. Her unwavering support for her family, her strength in the face of adversity will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Ekaterini “Kathy” Egglezos’s story is one of a life well-lived, and her spirit will continue to guide and inspire her family and friends for generations to come.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Nurses and Doctors on the Acute Stroke (8th floor) at Windsor Regional Hospital – Ouellette Campus, also to the entire staff at Extendicare Tecumseh.

Visitation will be held at Families First South Windsor (3260 Dougall Ave) 519-969-5841 on Tuesday, August 12th, 2025 from 4-8pm. Thrice Holy Hymn Service will be held at 6pm. Funeral Service will be held at Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Church (3052 Walker Road) on Wednesday, August 13th, 2025 at 10am. Interment to follow at Windsor Memorial Gardens.
