(December 14, 1947 – December 11, 2024)
It is with heavy hearts that the family announces her passing at her home on Wednesday, December 11, 2024 with her loving family by her side. Eileen was predeceased (2007) by her loving husband Douglas Kennedy. Proud mother to Robert (Monika) and Veronica (Steve).
Extremely loving Nanny to Megan, Mark, Logan and Sabrina.
She is survived by her siblings; Brian (Barbara) Cathy (Barry), Christine (Brian), John (Gail), Kevin (Terry), Theresa, Rosemary (Robert), Joanne (Brian) and Paul (Ellen). She will be sorely missed by her Kennedy in laws and many, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Eileen was predeceased by her parents Gerald and Rose Collins (neé Manley). Shortly after her death, her brother Gerry Collins (Lynn) also passed away.
Eileen had a wondrously unique vibrant spirit. Anytime you were with her, you would most likely leave with a hilarious story for life. (Everyone reading this is thinking of one right now) you would also be laughing hysterically with her innocent humour. Her most favourite past time and word was ‘BING0!’ She must have been the luckiest person on earth. She would always say after a Jackpot win – ‘it’s the luck of the Irish’.
Her greatest joy was spending time with her 4 grandchildren, no matter what they talked her into, she was up for it, from snowmobiling to playing virtual reality games, to hairdressing/makeup assistant.
Eileen was a remarkable person, both inside and out, especially with her stunningly ageless and radiant beauty. Her sense of style and grace, was truly parallel to none. She will be forever missed by all who knew her.
A funeral mass, will be held at St. Paul’s Basilica, 83 Power Street, Toronto, Ontario, on April 5th, 2025 at 11:00 a.m followed by a gathering/luncheon at Westside Lofts – multipurpose room (P1); 150 Sudbury Street, Toronto, Ontario, with visitor parking in the underground parking garage, code for door/garage is 459.
Donations in Eileen’s memory can be made to the Special Olympics Canada Foundation. Her youngest granddaughter, Sabrina, was very active in Special Olympics, and Eileen, loved to accompany her to, games and banquets. It gave Eileen great pride, to be part of this special club.
