Brother, Bernie Hunt (Sharon), St. John’s, sister, Betty Cain, Carbonear, Sister, Madonna Kavanagh (John), Harbour Grace.
Brother in Law, Rance Crocker (Ruby), Paradise, Berkley (Judy), Paradise, NL, and many Grandchildren, Nieces and Nephews and Cousins.
She was predeceased by her Husband, Randy, Daughter, Debbie London, Granddaughter Katie Youngberg, Parents, Agnes and Harry
Hunt, Brother, Harry (Alice), Sister, Joan and Brother in Law, Cal, Brother in Law Gerald (Betty).
As well as Parents in Law, Susan and Randolph (Skipper) Crocker, Sisters in Law, Alma (Charles), Olga (Harold), Florence (Walter), Molly (Walter), and Brother in Law, Bill (Joyce).
Mom was born in Harbour Grace and ultimately settled in St. John’s where she raised her four children.
She worked for many years at the Travellers Inn on Kenmount Road and later for the Provincial Govt. Dept. Of Health, making many friends during her working years.
Most times the TV at home was set to a Radio station with Irish or Newfoundland music playing and often you would see Mom and Randy having a little dance in the Living Room. She was a proud Newfoundlander.
She enjoyed reading, a little travelling and knitting dishcloths as a hobby, happily giving them to friends or Family.
Mom’s Parents, Siblings and In Laws were very present throughout her life and there were many get togethers over the years that made great memories for Her and Randy and us…..the annual Boxing Day party at Uncle Harry’s place……weekends at Nanny and Poppies in Riverhead, Harbour Grace, time spent with the whole Family at the Cabin in Makinsons, as well as Social gatherings with her In Laws.
She enjoyed visits with Family, Friends and Neighbours, many who would pop by to visit with her, never empty handed. She appreciated their thoughtfulness and enjoyed seeing all who came by.
After she became a resident of Agnes Pratt Nursing home, she continued to get these visits.
Mom was a strong willed Woman with a kind heart and growing up, we always knew that we were loved. She worked very hard to provide us with a good stable, safe home life and with that, fun childhood memories that we will always treasure.
She was heartbroken when her Daughter Debbie passed in 2016.
Then in 2023, she lost the love of her life, her best friend, partner and Husband, Randy.
She had said not long after Randy’s passing that she wouldn’t dance again because her dance partner was gone.
As the rumours began at the “Newfoundland Club in Heaven” that Mom was “on her way” we know that Randy would have been pacing back and forth the Pearly Gates, anxiously waiting her arrival.
Reunited in Heaven with her Husband and Daughter, we are sure her heart is now whole again and that they are all dancing, once again, to some good Ole Newfoundland music.
Many Thanks are extended to all who visited her at her Home in Paradise, as well as at Agnes Pratt Nursing Home where she resided this past 10 months.
We would like to acknowledge the care and compassion given to Mom,
by all of the Agnes Pratt Nursing Home Staff of Nurses, Doctors, Recreation Dept. and Volunteers, plus the wonderful staff who prepared meals she enjoyed, the Laundry Dept and Housekeeping staff, who as Mom would say, “kept the place clean as a whistle”.
Please accept our heartfelt Thanks and Gratitude. It was comforting to know she was cared for and safe with Staff that were so kind and compassionate.
Resting at Cauls Funeral Home, 84 LeMarchant Road. Visitation on Thursday and Friday from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. – 9 p.m.
Funeral Mass held at St. Teresa’s Parish, 120 Mundy Pond Road, St. John’s on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at 10 a.m. Interment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Galway.
As expressions of a sympathy, flowers gratefully accepted or a donation in Mom’s memory maybe made to the Agnes Pratt Nursing Home.
