With broken hearts, the family
of Edwin Cecil Critch announces his passing at the Doctor Everett
Chalmers Regional Hospital on December 31,
2024.
Edwin was born in Hants Harbour,
Newfoundland, on March 17, 1943, to his late parents, Sandy and Rosena
(Poole) Critch. He was the beloved husband of Lois “Dawn”
Critch.
In addition to his wife, Edwin
is survived by his sons, Duane Critch (Beverley) and Chad Critch
(Beverly); his grandchildren, Marina Critch, Ryan Critch, and Evan
Critch; his sister, Maude (the late Jim Cramm); his sister-in-law,
Alma Critch; and several nieces and nephews. Edwin’s love and
companionship will also be deeply missed by his canine friend, Zoe. In
addition to his parents, Edwin was predeceased by several stepbrothers
and stepsisters.
Edwin’s career was in sales, but
his true passion was carpentry and home repairs. He became known for
his unwavering willingness to lend a helping hand, whether it was a
small project or a major home improvement. His craftsmanship and
talents were a source of pride, and he cherished sharing his knowledge
and skills with others.
In his younger years, Edwin
enjoyed a variety of outdoor activities, including gardening, boating,
fishing, and hunting. Few seasons went by without him hunting moose,
and he was always eager to pass on his tips and stories to those
around him. His love of the outdoors was matched only by his
enthusiasm for sports—he was a dedicated fan of the Toronto
Blue Jays and Toronto Maple Leafs, always cheering on his teams with
unshakable loyalty.
Edwin was also deeply committed
to his faith and found strength and companionship in his church
family. He treasured these connections and loved spending time with
his own family, whom he held dear.
A private family funeral service
will take place at Bishop’s Funeral Home on Saturday,
January 4, 2025, at 2:00 PM, with Pastor Justin Beasley officiating.
