Obituary
It is with profound sadness and shattered hearts that we announce the sudden but peaceful passing of our dear brother, uncle, and friend, Edward (Ed) Oakley who left us on January 2nd, 2025, at the age of 68 years, surrounded by his loving family and dear friend.
Ed fought a courageous battle with cancer after being diagnosed several years ago. His reluctance to accept defeat coupled with a healthy dose of stubbornness defied the odds in the eyes of many and was no surprise to those closest to him.
Ed is predeceased by his father Michael Oakley (1962), brother in-law Alfred Ivany, mother Frances Oakley, nee Jones (1998), brother Mike (2008), sister Margie (2022), niece Ann (2024) and nephew Matthew (2024).
Left with fond and loving memories, his siblings Patricia Ivany, Shelia Barrett (Bob), Marilyn Oakley (Alfred), his brothers Patrick (Cathy) and Raymond. Ed leaves many nieces and nephews, great nieces & nephews, as well as great-great nieces and nephews. His nieces Renee Cole, Kimberley Oakley, and very special niece & caregiver Jodie O’Neill were close to his heart – they will cherish their memories with him forever.
Ed also leaves a large circle of family and friends – especially lifetime buddies Dave Fitzgerald (Fitz) and John Payne.
Ed was a lifelong fourth degree member of the Knights of Columbus (local 1452), who thoroughly enjoyed a
game of darts or cards – especially 120 and rummoli.
Ed’s witty humor, love for a good laugh or joke, and time spent with his family will be something we hold
near and dear to our hearts and will never be forgotten.
Ed was a gentle soul and left an imprint on the hearts of many.
Resting at Caul’s Funeral Home, 84 LeMarchanct Road, on Monday, January 6, from 2pm-9pm. Funeral
service to take place Tuesday, January 7, 2025 at 11am at Caul’s Funeral Home Chapel, 84 LeMarchant
Road.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Ed’s memory can be made to the Daffodil Place, or the Knights of Columbus
(Terra Nova Council 1452).
“Those we love don’t go away, they walk beside us every day, unseen, unheard, but always near, still loved,
still missed, and very dear”.
