Edward Gerard Hutchings Obituary
It’s with profound sadness we announce the passing of Edward (Eddie) Hutchings in Corner Brook, NL on Thursday, February 13, 2025 at the age of 67 years.
He will be lovingly and forever remembered by his wife Cathy Whitehead; sons Brent (Chelsy) and Greg (Ali); and his grandchildren Nicholas, Ava, Alex and Amelia. As well by his mother Margaret Hutchings and siblings Anne Hutchings, Margaret McLennon (Robert), Christopher Hutchings (Colleen), David Hutchings (Yvonne) and Mary Gallant (Tom).
Eddie was predeceased by his father Edward William Hutchings.
He served in the RCMP for 30 years which took him to Manitoba, NWT and around NL. He retired in 2008 and concentrated on the family farm in Felix Cove, Alpacas of Newfoundland until 2018. He was affectionately known at the Llama Man, which always made him smile. In full retirement he loved to spend time in Florida and travel. His dream was to move to Nova Scotia to be able to spend more time with his sons and grandchildren whom he loved very much and were his pride and joy.
There were many people involved in Eddie’s cancer journey. The family would like to thank the staff at the Dr.H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Centre in St John’s and the Palliative and End of Life Care Team in Corner Brook. With their support, Eddie passed with dignity and in peace, and the family will be eternally grateful.
As per Eddie’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no service.
As expressions of sympathy, donations in Eddie’s memory to the Cancer Care Foundation Newfoundland and Labrador, would be gratefully appreciated.
