It is with great sorrow, we announce the passing of Edward Callaghan, age 85, on Tuesday January 28th at St. Joseph’s Continuing Care Centre, South Bay Road site.
Ed was predeceased by his beloved wife Jeannine (nee Desjardins) in 2021. They were married for 61 years. He leaves behind his children Steven (Kathleen), Laurie Goulais (Dennis). He was predeceased by his young son Jimmy (1970). He was the grandfather to James (Stephanie), Nicholas (Jenna), Sarah (Danny), and Isaac (Megan). He was the great-grandfather to Sam, Alex, Ben, Nate, Nora, and Denver. He was predeceased by his parents Edward and Geraldine, and siblings Patricia, Rita, Trudy, and Joseph. He is survived by all of Jeannine’s siblings, their spouses, as well many cousins, Rob Kaelas, and many good friends.
He worked for Sudbury Hydro for over 30 years. An avid quarter-horse owner, Ed enjoyed riding and taking his family to fairs. He also played guitar in a few country music bands.
The family are grateful to Dr. Presenza, St. Joseph’s Continuing Care Centre, South Bay Rd. site, and the dedicated staff on the 2nd floor. Family appreciated the many efforts and care from the nursing staff, Chaplain Joe, social work, physiotherapy, dietary and food services, and housekeeping.
In lieu of flowers, the family would request a donation to the St. Joseph’s Continuing Care Centre (www.sjsudbury.com)
Cremation has taken place with Parklawn Crematorium. A private burial service for family and friends will be held at a later date.
