Edgar Wilkie Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dear brother Edgar Joseph Wilkie, Age 93, on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, at the Northside General Hospital.
Born in North Sydney on June 6, 1931, Edgar was the son of the late William and Irene (Fougere) Wilkie.
Edgar had a passion for horse racing and shared that passion with his three brothers Albert, Donnie and Gordie, co-owning horses in their younger days. Edgar worked for Amco and especially R. Jabalee Wholesale for many years until his retirement. He was a devoted member of St. Joseph Church, North Sydney.
Edgar is survived by his brother Albert (Phyllis) and his sister Alfreda MacLeod (Halifax), sisters-in-law Joanne Wilkie, Mary Wilkie and Muriel Wilkie; brother-in-law Mel Birmingham and a number of nieces and nephews.
Edgar was predeceased by his four brothers – Arthur, Donnie, Georgie and Gordie; his three sisters Catherine Mulley, Joyce LaChapelle and Brenda Birmingham; sister-in-law Lexie (Guy) Wilkie, and brothers-in-law Bill Mulley and Hugh MacLeod.
There will be no visitation by request. A Funeral Mass for Edgar will be held 11:00 am, Monday, February 3, 2025, in St. Joseph Church, North Sydney, with Rev. Doug MacDonald officiating. Arrangements are under the care and direction of W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney. Online condolences can be left for the family on the tribute wall of the obituary.
