Ed Haight Obituary
John “Ed” Edward Haight
April 29th, 1942 – March 24th, 2025
We are saddened to announce that Ed’s journey with Lewy Body Dementia has come to an end. While surrounded by his loving family, he took his last peaceful breaths.
Ed was devoted to his loving wife Sheila (Maloney) – and she to him – for 62 years. Their love for each other was the single constant in all this time together. His children were the pride and joy of his life, and he will be deeply missed by Sharlene Davies (Rob), Michelle Hexamer (Tom) and Christine Craftchick (Jeff).
Known as “Papa” to his grandchildren, Ed leaves a legacy of gentle kindness and unwavering support for the apples of his eye: Sarah Sager (Tyler), Jamie Andrews (Ian), Meagan Davies, Nicholas Koehler, Taylor Craftchick and Brandon Craftchick. He will also be missed by brother-in-law Carl Maloney (Jackie). Predeceased by his parents, Frank and Laurina Haight and sister Carolyn Brazier. He considered himself fortunate that in addition to the love of his immediate family, Ed found much warmth and support in his relationship with his predeceased in-laws Michael and Lillian Maloney.
Ed’s life was a full one – with family at the centre, and a sprinkling of drumming, boating, fishing, peanut butter, woodworking, travel, and a career in the grocery business mixed in. To know him was to love him, and that we did.
We wish to extend our most sincere gratitude to the staff at St. Joseph’s Lifecare Centre, especially his “family” on Hummingbird Way. Their diligence and exceptional care and kindness made Ed’s final year so comfortable. At Ed’s request, a private family gathering will be held, and cremation will follow. If wished, donations to St. Joseph’s Lifecare Foundation are gratefully appreciated. Memories and condolences may be shared with the family at mccleisterfuneralhome.ca
