Obituary of Dustin John William Curtis
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Dustin John William Curtis, who left us on March 22, 2025, at his home in Hamilton. Born on February 25, 1978, Dustin is survived by his loving mother, Olwen, his sister Lisa (Steve Clarke), and his cherished niece Allison and nephew Evan. He is now reunited with his father, John Curtis, who passed away in April, 2022
Dustin grew up in Stoney Creek, where he was an active participant in hockey and baseball. He excelled academically, worked diligently, and was remarkably responsible with his finances. His early accomplishments set him on a path to greatness. However, as he transitioned into adulthood, Dustin faced significant challenges due to a rare genetic disease that was misdiagnosed for many years, leading to life-limiting difficulties.
Despite these hardships, Dustin found joy in the simplest of things, especially in the company of his family and close friends. Those who looked beyond his challenges saw a kind and happy soul who loved discussing sports, music, and movies. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to David, who showed immense kindness to Dustin in his final months, including cheering on the Habs together.
A celebration of Dustin’s life will be held at the DONALD V. BROWN FUNERAL HOME, 36 Lake Avenue Dr., Stoney Creek. Visitation is scheduled for Friday, March 28 from 6-8pm and on Saturday, March 29 from 10am -12 pm, with a short service to follow at 12 pm. Cremation has already taken place, and interment will occur at a later date among family. Notes of sympathy and condolence may be left at www.donaldvbrown.ca
