It is with heavy hearts we announce the death of Duncan Hart. Duncan died peacefully at Joseph Brant Hospital after a brief illness. He was 91 years old. He was a kind and generous man with a good sense of humour. Duncan Hart was born in Paisley, Scotland. He came to Canada in the 1950’s where he met his beloved wife Mavis. They were married for 64 years. Mavis and Duncan loved to travel and had many great trips with their best friends Jan and Karl Grottenthaler.
Duncan worked for many years at the Petro Canada plant in Oakville. He was also part of the firefighting team there.
Duncan and Mavis were members of West Plains United Church. Duncan is survived by his wife Mavis. He will be greatly missed by his family: daughter Louise (Leah), his son Lloyd (Lorna), his daughter Carolyn, his grandchildren Hannah Brenegan, Lucie Brenegan, Sheilagh Brenegan, Nicolas Hart, Thomas Hart, Liam Hart, Sheena O’Rourke. Duncan was proud of all his grandchildren.
We are grateful to the caring team at Chartwell Lakeshore Retirement Home and the community PSW’s who cared for him. We are also grateful to the health care team at Joseph Brant Hospital.
A Celebration of Life will be take place at West Plains United Church (549 Plains Road West, Burlington) on Wednesday, January 29, 2025 at 11 am. Rev. Philip Gardener presiding.
A private Interment will take place at a later date at Burlington Memorial Gardens. Memorial donations may be made to West Plains United Church.
