Laplante, Douglas Arthur “Doug”
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden but peaceful passing of Doug Laplante, who left us on Wednesday, January 29th, 2025, at his home in Rutherglen.
Born in North Bay on December 31, 1956, Doug was the beloved son of the late Hector and Ruth Laplante. He was the loving father of Nancy Laplante, Joey Laplante (Stephanie) and the late Melissa Laplante (Chad). Cherished grandpa to Alexandra O’Connor (Caleb) and Alton Laplante. Dear brother of Claire Mijatovic (Joe), Debbie Glenn, and Holley Menard (Denis) and the late Clarence Laplante.
Pre-deceased by the mother of his children, Lucette Savage. He will be missed by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, friends, and his beloved fur-buddy Eddie.
Doug was an accomplished and devoted employee of the Township of Bonfield for 43 years, as the prior Chief Building Official and By-Law Officer, as well as the Director of planning and development, until his retirement in 2021. He sat on many boards and committees within the Municipality of Bonfield.
Doug’s family invite you to join them to share your memories at the Bonfield Community Centre on Saturday, February 22nd from 12- 2 p.m. A Memorial Service will follow at 2 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to Nipissing Serenity Hospice would be gratefully acknowledged as expressions of sympathy, as they were near and dear to Doug’s heart.
