Obituary of Dorothy Brown (nee Booker)
Of St. Thomas, ON, formerly of RR7, St. Thomas, passed away at the St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital on Monday, January 13, 2025, in her 94th year. Wife of the late Stewart J. Brown (2009). Mother of Beverlea O’Rourke (Alfred) of Kingston, and the late Paul Brown (2022) (Debra of St. Thomas). Grandmother of Rob Brown (Linda) of RR7, St. Thomas, Jeff Brown of St. Thomas, Grant O’Rourke (Jennifer), and Nathan O’Rourke (Tara) of Kingston. Great grandmother of Tori, Jack, and Julia Brown, Kaylee and Levi O’Rourke. Sister of Sandra Minor (Paul) of Sparta. Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and their families. A number of brothers and sisters predeceased her.
Born in Lanigan, SK, March 4, 1931, she was a daughter of the late William “Bill” and Ella (née Lumley) Booker. Dorothy was a school bus driver for 20 years. She was a member of Frome United Church.
Relatives and friends will be received by the family on Thursday, January 16, 2025 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the Sifton Funeral Home, 118 Wellington St., St. Thomas (519-631-1160). The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Friday, January 17, 2025 at 11:30 a.m. Interment in McArthur Cemetery, Southwold Twp. at a later date. Memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart & Stroke Foundation will be gratefully acknowledged.
