Dorothy Jackson, age 82, passed away peacefully at Shalom Village in Hamilton, ON, on December 30, 2024, after a 20-year journey with Alzheimer’s. Dorothy was born August 18, 1942, in Pembroke, ON.
Dorothy moved to Brantford with her family when she was five where she lived most of her life. She met the love of her life, Gord, while he was on his porch playing his guitar. It was love at first sight. They were blessed to be married for over 60 years before Gord passed away. Music was an important part of their lives, and you would often hear them singing duets at family gatherings. Dorothy and Gord enjoyed many adventures together, including camping, boating, their journeys on “That’s Incredible” (a houseboat that Gord built in their driveway), exploring the world with Dave and Dar, relocating to Port Dover, and then wintered in Florida. Eventually they settled in Dundas.
Dorothy was a well-liked real estate agent in Brantford for over 30 years. Her success came from her honesty and kindness to her clients. Always cheerful and quick to laugh, she had a passion for food and loved to bake.
Dorothy is predeceased by her husband, Gordon Jackson, parents, August and Wilhelmine Biederman (née Schroeder) and siblings, Laura Turcotte, Leona Souliere, Garnet Biederman, and Shirley Biederman. She was loving and generous and will be sadly missed by her daughters, Cindy LaVallee (Kevin), Kimberly Tuckwell (Jim), and Jane Jones (Steven), grandchildren, Mandi, Mike (Ashlee), Matt (Dominique), Kevin, and Trevor (Shannen), great-grandchildren, Chase, Bailey, Carter, Owen, and Rilyn, numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, as well as her longtime friends, Bonnie, Marie, and Lil.
Thank you to the wonderful staff at Shalom Village, where Dorothy resided for the last 8 years and her incredible caregiver, Mercedes.
