Dorothy Robertson Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Dorothy Robertson (nee Mitchell) of Leith on January 4, 2025. Born September 8, 1935 in Owen Sound, Dorothy peacefully passed away from cancer at the Grey Bruce Hospice – Chapman House in her 90th year with her husband Kyle by her side.
For 63 years, she was the beloved wife of Kyle Robertson. Loving Mom of Sheila McNeill and husband Paul of Shallow Lake and David Robertson and wife Dawna of Annan. Proud and loving grandmother of Cody (Nicole), Nicholas (Jill), Daniel (Caroline) and Andrew (Christina). Sister-in-law to Glenmeta Nelson and Marilyn Robertson. Dorothy will be missed by many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Predeceased by her parents James and Margaret Mitchell, brothers Roger and Russ, sisters-in-law Gwen, Betty, Joan, and brothers-in-law Carlyle and Larry.
She was raised on the farm in Leith and met Kyle at OSCVI. Dorothy and Kyle moved from Hamilton back to Leith in 1968 to raise their family. She was a faithful member of Trinity United Church as well as Leith United Church. She kept active as a slo pitch player, gardener, and weeder as well as playing with the Merry Music Makers the last few years.
A special thank you to the many health care professionals that helped Dorothy and our family during the last few months: The Home Care team and her Palliative Care team who were always only a call away. We thank the staff and volunteers at Chapman House Hospice for making Dorothy and our family’s last days so comfortable. To her Family Physician, Dr. Brooke Edwards: thank you for always being there for Dorothy as well as Dr. Jon Caulfield for his guidance.
In keeping with Dorothy’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family graveside service will be held at the Leith Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Chapman House or the Friends of Leith United Church are appreciated.
