It is with mixed emotion that we share Dorothy Jean Good of Saskatoon, passed away December 18, 2024 freed from the grips of dementia. Dorothy leaves her niece, nephews and their families: Sandi Urban (Jeff) : April, Stuart, Sydney (Dawson) and Wade, Darren Urban (Wanda), Grant Urban (Alex): Zachary and Evan, Glen Urban (Adrienne): Landon, Tyson, Chase and Clay. Dorothy also leaves her Hurd family: Shirley Hellquist (Terry), Bruce McFarlane (Karen), Glen Hurd (Ann), and Dennis Flaherty.
She was predeceased by her parents, Clifford and Mildred (Akey) Good; her sister and brother-in-law Carol (Good) and Jerry Urban and sister-in-law Katherine Flaherty. Dorothy was the last of her generation. We believe she must have been welcomed with love and anticipation and a great “Good” reunion.
Dorothy is blessed by a large group of friends, some life long, others gathered along the way including the “old gals club” who join us in our grief and have been a tremendous support to Dorothy.
Dorothy grew up in Fillmore, Saskatchewan; attended the University of Saskatchewan graduating with a degree in Home Economics. After graduating, she and husband Linsell, ventured to New York State where they lived and worked until the late 1980’s when they returned to Saskatchewan. Dorothy and Linsell would eventually continue life on different paths. Dorothy moved to Saskatoon where she purchased her beloved home on Park Avenue and began her career with CRA.
She was a crafty woman – and we are talking about crafts! She tried her hand and succeeded mastering needle point, cut glass, knitting, crocheting, painting and many more. She loved to entertain. She was fiercely independent, strong willed and opinionated. Many people and organizations benefitted from her time and support.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, January 3, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Saskatoon Funeral Home. The service will be livestreamed for those unable to attend in person via the link at the top of her tribute page. Interment will be in Fillmore Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Saskatchewan.
