Dorothy and Vernon Carr
CARR, Dorothy – June 29, 1927 – January 5, 2025
CARR, Vernon – September 4, 1928 – June 20, 2022
Vernon and Dorothy Carr moved to Nova Scotia after their marriage.
They loved the water and settled by the water in Western Shore.
During the winter, they lived in Florida in their condo by the water.
Eventually, they moved to Mahone Bay.
Vernon passed away in Bridgewater on June 20, 2022 with Dorothy by his
side. Dorothy was never able to return to her little yellow house in
Mahone Bay. She missed Vernon every day until her passing in
Bridgewater on January 5, 2025.
Dorothy was an amazing woman. Born in Budapest, she evaded the
Germans and Russians who entered her city during war time. A strong
and courageous woman she escaped as a teenager and did not see her
parents again until she found them in another country, many years
later. She was a talented painter and a business owner. She was a
devoted wife. She was a gifted storyteller. It is a shame the
remarkable story of her life was never recorded.
She will be truly missed by those who knew and loved her. Such spirit
does not come along every day.
She will be interred in St. John’s Cemetery, Halifax, along side
Vernon, in the spring of 2025.
