Doris Hatcher Obituary
With heavy hearts and deep sorrow, we announce the passing of Doris Emily Hatcher (nee Millard) on Thursday, January 30, 2025, passing peacefully in her sleep in Sydney, Nova Scotia.
Doris, who was in her 88th year, was the wife of the late Wilson Hatcher (died in 2018), loving mother of Denise (predeceased 2012), Robert (Bonnie) and Duane (Joanne). Beloved grandmother of Greg (Krista), Michael (Samantha), Taylor (Anthony), Travis and Ryan and her first expected great grandchild. Doris was also predeceased by her parents William and Elsie Millard, and her siblings Robert, Billy and Debbie.
Doris was born and raised in North Sydney Scotia until 1967 when she and Wilson moved their family to Georgetown, ON and then Glen Williams, ON where they raised their three children. Doris was an avid supporter of her children and grandchildren in their many sporting activities and took great pleasure in spoiling her grandchildren with every given opportunity. Upon the passing of her beloved Wilson, Doris returned to her home town of North Sydney, Nova Scotia to live out her remaining days, with her last few years being spent at Harbourstone Enhanced Care, Sydney, NS. The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the entire staff of Harbourstone for their care and attention given to Doris during her stay.
Interment will be made at a later date in Greenwood Cemetery in Georgetown, ON where she will be reunited with her beloved husband Wilson. Doris was greatly loved by her family and will be dearly missed by all. Memorial contributions in memory of Doris can be made to Cancer Assistance Services, 222 Mountainview Road N, Georgetown, ON, L7G 6H9.
