It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Dorene
Margo Zwicker (Lohnes) of Mahone Bay on January 29, 2025, at home at
the age of 85.
Born November 26, 1939 in Bridgewater, she was the daughter
of the late Ralph and Doris Lohnes.
Surviving are her son Cliff, daughters Sharon (Bruhm), Karen,
grandson Michael, brother Roger and numerous nieces and
nephews. She was predeceased by her husband
Lawrence, brothers Fred, James and son-in-law
Paul.
She was a full-time homemaker and devoted her entire life to
her family. We have many fond memories as children of a
house filled with the aromas of her daily baking and
cooking. She was a hard worker and kept a spotless
house. She was an avid flower & vegetable gardener
and we reaped the benefits of pickles and fresh vegetables.
One of her favourite pastimes was feeding the hummingbirds and it was
great fun to watch their antics. She had a great love for
cats and had a wonderful sense of humour.
She was fiercely independent despite various health
challenges and remained so until blindness sidelined her. It
was a devastating blow to her independence but her strength of
character shone throughout until her passing.
Special thanks to Dr. Zach Shaffelburg, Dr. Colin Mann and
Dr. Neil Harris.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to SHAID
or charity of choice.
A graveside service will be held at Dayspring
Cemetery, Tuesday March 11 at 11am. Reverend Willis
Ott officiating.
Arrangements are under the direction of the R.A. Corkum
Funeral Home, Wileville where on-line condolences may be made by
visiting www.corkumsfuneralhome.ca.
