Obituary of Donald Fraser Moffatt, B.A., MHA
Don died peacefully on July 7, 2024 at age 89. He was born in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, the son of the late Mary and Fraser Moffatt.
Don is survived by Glenna, his beloved wife and life partner of 64 years, his loving daughters Sharon (Glen), Shelley (Radek) and Tracy (Andrew) and his beloved grandsons, Andrew, Brendan, Grant and Liam. He is also survived by his dear sister, Sue (Basil) and predeceased by his brother Ted (Marlene).
Don had a very satisfying career in Hospital Administration serving as Assistant Administrator of the Ottawa Civic Hospital, Associate Executive Director and CEO of the Children’s Hospital of Columbus, Ohio and a 23 year career as Director and Director General of Health Services Directorate and Health and Welfare Canada including founding and leading such initiatives as the National Health Services Guidelines and Consulting Programs and the National Hospital Productivity Improvement Program.
He also served in many local and national volunteer capacities as President and Chairman of the Board of each of the following organizations: West Ottawa Tennis Club; Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) of Canada; and JDRFOttawa Chapter. He also served in various volunteer capacities at his church. Don was a passionate allsports fan, and enjoyed playing tennis and golf throughout his life.
