Obituary of Donald Carl Boake
BOAKE: Donald Carl
With a heavy heart, we announce Don’s passing in his 91st year.
Don was born in Stouffville, Ontario; he was the son of May Boake.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Laurie May, and survived by his wife, Dorothy. Loving father of Dawn May Wilson, Bill (Vicky), Rebecca (Dennis), and Rob. Fondly remembered by Dorothy’s son Monty (Louise). His nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren will lovingly remember him.
Don moved his young family to Temagami, where he owned and operated a Tourist Camp. Later, he moved to North Bay and worked as a carpenter.
He was a man of great faith, believing in his Saviour. He helped build many churches from Fort McPherson to Haiti.
He was always willing to help his family and friends, no questions asked.
Don loved music and playing his harmonica. He sang with the Barber Shop Quartet for many years. He had a great sense of humour and a loud laugh. He loved the outdoors, enjoying fishing, hunting, gardening, maple syrup time, and making preserves, jam, and jellies.
Don’s health started to fail after his Stroke on November 23, 2023. He spent the last 15 months first in the hospital and then at Water’s Edge, where he received excellent care.
A Celebration of his Life will be held at the Martyn Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 22nd, with visiting from 11:00 am until time for a Memorial Service in the Funeral Home Chapel at noon. Interment at the Forest Lawn Cemetery will happen later.
If desired, donations to a Charity of your choice would be appreciated by his family.
Don, go rest high on the mountain with your Saviour; your work on earth is done.
