It is with broken hearts, that we announce the sudden passing of our father, Donald Walker on February 1, 2025, at the age of 80. Our Dad sadly lost a battle with RSV pneumonia, after bravely fighting for 5 weeks.
He has now found his way back into the arms of the love of his life Dianne, who we lost just a few months ago. Our Dad has spent the last year celebrating his love for our Mother, travelling with his kids to places he always wanted to see, having family time together, BBQ’s, beach parties, reconnecting with old friends and making new friends. He was devoted to making the people who cared for his beloved wife, feel appreciated and special. He gave his time frequently to the hospice that cared for her.
Dad was one of the most special humans ever to walk this earth. He had unwavering pride and love for family and a kindness that was unmatched. If you were fortunate enough to be loved by our Dad, you felt that deep in your soul. He was also one of the funniest guys you’d ever meet. Laughter was and always will be a pillar of strength in our family. We promise to keep laughing Dad.
Our Dad was loved by so many and he deeply loved his 3 children Don Jr, Tami and Holly. He was like a father to his son-in-laws Stephen and Chris and daughter-in-law Kimberly. He cherished and was so proud of his 6 grandchildren Erika, Emma, Madison, Sarah, Connor and Ava. Our Dad deeply loved his siblings John, Carole and Joanie (Dianne they lost earlier in life).
Dad also had close loving relationships with his brother and sister in laws, some of who were his closest friends and his nieces and nephews were loved as they were his own children.
Donald William Walker was our Dad, he was Papa and Uppa to our children. He was a brother, an uncle and a friend.
We will be laying our Dad to rest, “together forever”, next to his true love on Saturday Feb 8.
In lieu of flowers, our Dad would have preferred donations be made to the Foothills Country Hospice, in honor of his loving wife.
Our family would also like to extend our sincerest gratitude to the incredible staff in the ICU at South Health Campus and in the ER and Unit 300 at High River Hospital.
