It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Donald Francis
Schneider. He departed peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on March 10, 2025, in his
90th year.
Don has been reunited with his beloved wife and soulmate, Junne, who passed in 2022 and
with his daughter Jayne, who left us unexpectedly in 2015.
He was a dedicated and amazing father and mentor to Jack (Nancy), Joe (Susan), Jayne, and
Jennifer (Rod) and a beloved ‘Papa’ and ‘Gramps’ to many grandchildren and great
grandchildren, who will forever hold his memory close. He was always ready to lend a hand or
a listening ear to all his family.
Don began his 65-year career with Canada Tool in 1960. Don’s executive leadership, dedication
and loyalty to the continued success of the Company was unwavering, working full time until 3
weeks before his passing. Don made every effort to get to know all those who worked with
him, often building strong, meaningful and lasting relationships with many over the years. Not
only did Don earn their respect, but many looked up to him for leadership and guidance, and it
showed through their long-term commitment to him and the Company. Don thought of the
people at Canada Tool as his second family and willingly accepted his responsibility to ensure
the continued care and employment of all the people. He will be truly missed by many.
Although Don’s first passion was his family, he had a second passion – golf. For years, he would
spend weekends with his golfing buddies playing a round or two, rain or shine. Don’s weekend
hobby created a close-knit and lifelong group of friends with annual trips to Myrtle Beach
where they played as many courses as they could.
Above all, Don found his greatest joy with his family at his home away from home – Duck Lake.
A family cottage nestled amongst towering trees, sandy beaches, clean air and sparkling lake
water. Don would spend hours tinkering, whether it be in his garage, or puttering around
always finding something to fix or improve. He would often be seen gazing across the lake,
keeping a watchful eye to any changes to the cottages or properties since the last time he
looked. It was the place that brought him the most peace and happiness.
At Don’s request, no service or visitation will take place. A Celebration of Life will be held at a
later date.
