It is with heavy hearts we say our last farewell to Donald Gordon Brunton, who passed away on January 20th at the age of 73, after a battle with cancer. He was surrounded by family and friends and a lifetime of memories.
Over the years he shared countless adventures, travels and experiences with his many friends all across Canada and beyond. In his younger years, he enjoyed playing hockey, fishing and visiting friends from Petawawa, Sioux Lookout, Winnipeg and Vancouver.
Donald was a kind-hearted son, brother, uncle and friend to all who knew him.
He was always ready to offer his opinions and his sharp wit kept everyone on their toes. As Don would say, “Hol-ey!”
He had a natural knack of how things worked and when technology stumped the average person Donald came to the rescue.
Donald enjoyed a rewarding career on the railroad for many years before retiring to an active social life participating in his favourite things. These included golfing, gaming, going for wings or sushi and enjoying his dinners out with friends who became like family. He was never without a dinner invitation. Donald also took an interest in cooking and amazed his friends with his culinary prowess.
In his later years, Donald also enjoyed making personalized greeting cards for friends and family and to receive one was an honour. He kept his mind sharp daily by championing the New York Times Crossword and joining in a healthy rivalry with his friends over Wordle.
Donald leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter and cherished memories that will be carried in the hearts of all of us he leaves behind.
