Domingos Gouveia
Domingos Gouveia of Edmonton, formerly of Ficalho, Portugal, passed away peacefully on March 7, 2025, at the age of 88 years.
He is survived by his wife, Mariana; sons, Domingos Gouveia of Edmonton, Licinio Gouveia of Edmonton and Victor Gouveia of Edmonton; daughter, Isabel Brace of Calgary; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; three brothers Augusto Gouveia of Portugal, Manuel Gouveia of Portugal and Francisco Gouveia of Portugal. Domingos also leaves behind numerous extended family members in Portugal and Canada. He was predeceased by his sister, Yvone Nogueira; parents, Manuel da Silva Gouveia and Barbara Alves Marta.
Originally from Vila Verde de Ficalho, Domingos immigrated to Canada with his wife and children in 1974, settling in Edmonton for over 50 years.
Domingos was a brick layer in Portugal and worked various jobs in Edmonton until retirement.
Thank you to the staff at the Gene Zwozdesky Centre for their care and compassion.
Family and friends are cordially invited to join Domingos’ family for the Memorial Service on Saturday, March 15, at 3:30 p.m. at Park Memorial Reception Centre, 11015 – 101 Street, Edmonton. To respect Dominigos’ last wishes, cremation has been entrusted to Park Memorial.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Suite 300, 55 St. Clair Avenue W, Toronto, Ontario, M4V 2Y7.
