With great sorrow, we announce the passing of our beloved Diing Geng, who left us on February 22, 2025, at the age of 33. Diing was a kind, intelligent, and generous soul who touched the lives of everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. His wisdom, warmth, and unwavering love for his family and friends will be deeply missed.
Diing was born on January 17, 1992, in Lokichokio Kenya, where he spent his early childhood before moving to Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, in 2003. He completed his elementary and junior high school years there before relocating to Calgary, Alberta, in 2008, where he attended Father Lacombe High School. Calgary became home for much of his life, and in his final years, he resided in Edmonton, Alberta.
Throughout his working years, Diing was employed in warehouses and the construction industry. He was a hardworking and dedicated individual, always striving to do his best. Beyond his work, he was a man of deep wisdom, always ready to share jokes and thoughtful advice and encouragement with those around him. His generosity knew no limits, and his presence was a source of comfort and love.
Diing is survived by and his father, Geng Geng Guil Ruop and his mother, Aramthai Kur Deng; Older sister, Anyang Geng; Eldest brother, Athian Geng; Younger brother, Mangok Geng; Younger sister, Nyandeng Geng; Younger sister, Abuk Geng and Baby sister, Ayen Geng. He is also survived by his half siblings residing in South Sudan, Guil Geng, Wol Geng, Ayen Geng, Geng Geng, and Abuk Geng. His spirit will be remembered by his girlfriend, Bejean Tung; his nephews, Kur Riak Kur and Ajang Chol Kuir Aleu and niece, Abuk Chol Kuir Aleu.
Though his time with us was too short, the love and wisdom he shared will continue to live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
