It is with heavy hearts we announce the loss of our dearest Dennis who passed away at Toronto General Hospital, on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at the age of 79. Devoted husband to Sharon Ward (nee Fraser) to whom he has been lovingly married for 57 years. Cherished father to Cheryl (Bruno) Bellissimo of Richmond Hill and Ken Ward of Burlington. Proud grandfather to Lucas. Brother to Linda (Bill) Sherring. Forever in the hearts of his extended family and friends across Ontario. Predeceased by his parents Cecil and Lillian Ward (nee Burrowes) as well as his brother Douglas. Dennis may be gone from this world; however, he lives on in the stories and memories he has left with all those he touched during his lifetime. Dennis was a dedicated employee with Dofasco for 38 years, a proud member of the Burlington Lawn Bowling Club and volunteer with St. John’s Ambulance. A very special thank you to Dr. Crump, nursing staff and care staff from the Lymphoma Research Team at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre for providing Dennis with the utmost care, treatment and compassion during his time with them. As per Dennis’ wishes, and those of his family, a private cremation will be taking place. Visitation at SMITH’S FUNERAL HOME, 1167 Guelph Line (one stop light north of QEW), BURLINGTON (905-632-3333) on Monday, March 24, 2025 from 5-8 p.m. Funeral Service will be celebrated at Knox Presbyterian Church, 461 Elizabeth St, Burlington, on Tuesday, March 25, 2025 at 1 p.m. If desired, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, Knox Presbyterian Church or Burlington Humane Society (formerly Animal Aid) would be sincerely appreciated by the family.
