Denise Williams Obituary
It is with great sadness that we share the news of the passing of our beloved mum, Elizabeth Mary Denise (“Denny”) Williams, after a short illness on the 4th of April 2025 at Kingston General Hospital. She died peacefully surrounded by family, fresh flowers, and the sound of Bach playing. A violinist, Mum was a mainstay of the Kingston Music community. After emigrating from Wales in 1969, with our late father, Malcolm, and her three children, she and Dad became members of the Kingston Symphony Orchestra (KSO). In her teens, Mum was the Principal Violinist of the South Glamorgan Youth Orchestra and the National Youth Orchestra of Wales, where she first met Dad. They then continued to play music together for the better part of 70 years. In her later professional career, Mum was the Assistant Concert Master of the KSO. Many children in Kingston have also benefitted from her wonderful teaching. She taught privately for over 40 years. Born in Rhoose, South Wales in 1936, she was predeceased by her cherished Malcolm. She leaves behind her three children Paul (Maureen), Siân (Gisella), Clare (David), and six grandchildren Megan, Jonathan, Laura, Bryn, Emma, and Ieuan, to whom she was Gu (Mamgu), and step-grandchildren Liam and Andrew. She was dearly loved by so many and will be missed by all. We would like to thank the wonderful medical staff at KGH, especially Bella, Amber, and Rachel, for their dedication and loving care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kingston Symphony Orchestra or the Canadian Lung Association.
Funeral service will be held on Friday, April 11, 2025 at 1:00 pm in James Reid Funeral Home, 1900 John Counter Blvd., Kingston, with a reception to follow in the James Reid Reception Centre.
