Howse, Denise Gabrielle (Vermeulen) (February 10, 1947 – January 23, 2025)
We, the family of Denise Gabrielle (Vermeulen) Howse, wish to announce the peaceful passing of our much-loved wife, mother, sister and friend, on January 23, 2025, at Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital, at the age of 77. Denise was born in Tillsonburg to her parents Remi and Gabrielle (Brackman) Vermeulen (both predeceased). For many years, Denise was employed with the Lakeshore Shopper, as a dedicated proofreader. In her younger years, she worked on her parents’ tobacco farm. Over her life, Denise was a dedicated member of Sacred Heart R.C. Church, Langton. She gained many lifelong friendships through her membership and involvement with the Sacred Heart Catholic Women’s League, the Langton Lioness and the Langton Minor Hockey Moms. She will be dearly missed by her loving husband of 54 years, Merlin Howse, of Langton. Always a caring mother to Jim Howse, of Langton and Linette Howse (Justin Wareham), of Delhi. Loving sister to Marianne Kilian, of Tillsonburg; sister-in-law to Doreen Howse. Survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by her brother Fred Vermeulen (2023) (late wife Kathleen, 2010); brother-in-law Ernie Kilian (2016) and nephew Ernie Kilian Jr. (2009).
In keeping with Denise’s expressed wishes, cremation has taken place. Friends, neighbours and relatives are invited to attend public visitation on Thursday, January 30, 2025, between 6:00 and 8:00 p.m., in the Maurice J. Verhoeve Funeral Homes Chapel, 40 Queen Street, Langton. A private family funeral liturgy to remember Denise will be held on Friday, January 31st, 2025. Later interment in Sacred Heart R.C. Cemetery, Langton in the spring.
