Obituary of David Clement
It is with heavy hearts that the family of David Marcel Clement announce his passing, which occurred on July 14, 2025, in Norton, NB. Born in Saint John on September 22, 1998, David was the beloved son of Shawn Clement and the late Angela (Francis) Clement.
David Marcel Clement came into the world large and loud — a force of nature from the very beginning. Full of boundless energy and fearless curiosity, David never stopped running, climbing, exploring, and testing the limits of every boundary. Whether he was grabbing snakes with his bare hands or tearing through trails on his four-wheeler, David lived with a spirit that was wild, brave, and free.
To his family, he was lovingly known as Buddy and Little Man — affectionate names that captured the warmth and joy he brought into their lives. He deeply loved his parents, and that love was something he carried with him through every stage of his life.
Adventurous by nature, David spent his days immersed in the outdoors, swimming for hours, catching frogs in the pond, or helping his dad in the garage where he was always eager to invent something or just be part of the action. He could pass nails, fetch tools, and always found a way to be useful. David was a “hands-on” kid, and nothing delighted him more than being right in the middle of the work — or the fun.
He had a love for animals that ran deep and true. From fishing at the lake to raising chickens and helping build the chicken shed, David cared deeply for every living thing. He would snuggle the chickens, name them, and treat them like companions. His heart had room for them all.
David was also a bright boy — witty, and full of charm. He had a bright smile that could light up a room and a magnetic energy that drew others in. Whether playing hockey (and licking the ice for laughs), scoring hat tricks or taking a penalty or two, he gave his all to the game. He was a good player — not just because of his skills, but because of his heart and drive. He loved fiercely, and he’d do anything for the people he cared about.
As a child, he would also draw chalk parking lots in the driveway, sleep in his little blue car bed, and dream of the next adventure. From Florida vacations swimming with dolphins to local afternoons playing in the dirt, David embraced life with everything he had. He couldn’t wait to grow up, to be part of things, to do something that mattered.
Though David’s adult life was marked by painful struggles with mental health and addiction, they never erased the love he gave or the joy he brought to those who knew him when he was doing well. He fought hard, but the weight became too much to carry. He struggled too much to step fully into the role of a father, but he loved his daughters — Teagan and Tessa — with all his heart. They are the two most beautiful things he leaves behind in this world, and his family finds comfort in the hope that David’s childhood light — his energy, his humour, his heart — will shine through in them.
David was someone who would give you the shirt off his back, who could make you laugh when you didn’t feel like laughing, who loved deeply even through his own pain. Though his life ended far too soon at 26, he leaves behind stories of laughter, love, and wild childhood joy that will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. May he now find the peace he searched for so long
Go give mama a big hug buddy. Your struggles are done on this earth. Be free now little man.
He will be missed beyond measure by his family, including his father, Shawn; his daughters: Teagan and Tessa-Joan; his sisters: Danielle Hay (Eric) of Picadilly, and Chantel Canrinus (Tim) of Nova Scotia; his maternal grandmother, Freda Gregg of Penobsquis, and paternal grandfather, Henri Clement of Norton and by his nieces and nephew: Cohen, Clara, Maria, Sadie, and Ava.
He will also be fondly remembered by his aunts and uncles: Cindy Hughes (Ernie) of Sus, Randy Francis of Saint John, Pamela Hatfield (Albert) of Sus, Brenda Francis (Mike Edwards) of Penobsquis, Philip Clement of Norton, and Nicole Clement (Keith Carhart) of Norton, as well as by his many cousins and extended family members.
David was predeceased by his mother, Angela Clement, just five months ago—a loss he felt deeply—as well as by his maternal grandfather, Melvin Francis, and his paternal grandmother, Darlene Clement.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sus, (506-433-1176) from where a visitation will be held on Saturday, July 19, 2025 from 11-1pm. A Celebration of David’s life will be held from Wallace Community Chapel immediately following with Jeanette Cosman officiating. The interment will take place in Wards Creek Cemetery, Wards Creek.
For those who wish to remember David in a meaningful way, the family suggests donations to Addictions and Mental Health Services or a charity of the donor’s choice. Donations and Personal condolences may be made through www.wallacefuneralhome.com.
Though his life was far too short, David will be remembered with love, and his memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and cared for him.
