In Memory of David Neil Gillard
June 3,1951- January 30, 2025
On Thursday, January 30, 2025, David Neil Gillard passed away at the Greater Niagara General Hospital surrounded by family and friends. Predeceased by his wife and love of his life, Maxine (2009), parents Norman “Bus” (1975) and Lorraine Gillard (2011), brother John Gillard (2021), niece Carrey Slotuik (2023) and nephew Titus Naykalyk (2018). Beloved brother of Christine Plummer (Cliff). Uncle to Nairn Gillard (Alicia), Eric Naykalyk (Bethany), Trisha Forsyth, and Ryan Lane. “Best bud” to Brian Richards (Cheryl) and friend Joanne DeWolfe. Dear friend of Mariet Vandenbrink. Godfather to Amelia and Joshua DeWolfe.
David spent his whole life in Niagara Falls, working as a machinist at several places including Fleet Industries and MC Healthcare. He was a loveable curmudgeon, known for his love of music, Boston Bruins/Red Sox, and his seven golden retrievers. He was an encyclopedia of classic rock and passed on his love of music to his family and friends, many of whom he attended concerts with over the years. He will be remembered as a caring, generous man who worked hard for his community, as exemplified by his time with the Stamford Lions Club, which he served since 2010, receiving several awards and serving as president for a time.
David’s family will receive friends at Morse & Son Funeral Home- 5917 Main Street, Niagara Falls, on Friday February 7, 2025, from 9 – 11 am with a service following in the chapel. For those who wish, memorial donations may be made to Stamford Lions Club or City Kidz (Hamilton) or a charity of their choice.
