David Mallory Obituary
Born January 4, 1940, in Penticton, David L Mallory passed away peacefully at Moog and Friends Hospice on January 28th, 2025, at the age of 85.
Sadly missed by his loving wife Janice; son, Lawren (Tara) of Pitt Meadows; daughter, Erin (Erin) of Toronto; two grandsons, Brayden Silvea and Walker Mallory; two sisters, Pat of Penticton and Marion (Sue) of Victoria; nephew, Sean (Kellie); niece, Shannon (Mark); and great-nieces, Sydney and Rachel.
Predeceased by his parents, Laurence and Grace Mallory, and sister, Charlotte Mallory.
After a career in Vancouver, David served on the boards of BC Summer Swimming Association, and BC Water Polo, and then retired and opened a bookstore in Coquitlam specializing in all genres. Moving to Summerland in 1995, he sold books online and immersed himself in the community and quickly became a volunteer with Parkdale Place Housing Society, Agur Lake Camp Society, Summerland Museum, Summerland Library, and the Foodbank. In time he opened a small bookstore on Victoria Rd North when he soon became known as the “Summerland Bookman”.
Celebration of Life will be held in late Spring/early Summer.
