David MacLeod
1952-2025
David Neil MacLeod, 72 of Boundary Creek passed away
peacefully with his wife Lorraine and daughter Kristen by his side, at
the Moncton Hospital on Tuesday January 21, 2025.
Born in Moncton, he was the son of the late Wendell and Maude
(Murray) Swim. David loved his wife and best friend Lorraine and his
daughter Kristen more than anyone or anything else in this
world.
His passion for driving, snowmobiling and the
Montreal Canadiens began when he was a young boy living in
Happy Valley Labrador and continued throughout his life. He
shared those passions with his family by teaching Kristen to drive
when she was 9 and introduced snowmobiling and hockey to both Lorraine
(who was a Toronto Maple Leafs fan before meeting David) and
Kristen.
His love of driving gave him a satisfying career with Armour
Transportation (his cousin Art Murray got him the job) as a highway
truck driver in a big red truck that he kept impeccably clean
– had his own dusters and cleaning materials. He
retired after 25 years with a 2 million mile safe driving award and
made some very good friends during his career. He was a
focused and dedicated driver when working because his goal was always
to get home safe to his happy place on Lower Mountain
Road.
He loved our home and was grateful for the support of our
neighbours who became family to us. Being outdoors (mowing the lawn,
clearing snow, cutting down trees for firewood), camping (coast to
coast in Canada and up to Tuktoyaktuk in the Arctic), golfing, and
helping others was high on his list. Spending time with
family and friends (near and far away) was also important to David. He
was happy to host family and friends at our home for meals and fun
times or go to their home to do the same and enjoyed playing a variety
of card and board games. He loved to laugh, have a good
time, enjoy life, listen to music and especially loved spending time
in the hot tub with Lorraine.
His heart was full when Kristen found her person in
Noble and he loved seeing them together.
David always said he was a happy guy and was very content
with his life – it just ended so much sooner than
expected.
He is survived and will be so sadly missed by his beloved
wife of 50 years Lorraine (Reid);his daughter Kristen MacLeod (Noble)
and several aunts, uncles, brother in laws, sister in laws, cousins,
nieces, nephews and many good friends.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the
Moncton Hospital Oncology Clinic (doctors and staff) and the nursing
staff of the 4200 Unit (Oncology).
Arrangements are in the care of Salisbury Funeral Home
(506-372-4800). A Celebration of David’s Life will
be held at a later date.
If desired, donations in memory of David can be made to the
Canadian Cancer Society or PAW (SPCA) and would be appreciated by the
family.
