It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of David Lorne Young in his 88th year. He died peacefully at home surrounded by family and at a time of his choosing.
Survived by his wife, Marlene (Molly) (nee Yundt) of 64 years. He will be deeply missed by their children Vanessa (Bill) Morrison of Monkton, Matt Young of Stratford, Penny (Mike) Wolfkamp of Mitchell and Ben Young of Stratford. Also remembered by his grandchildren Colton (Lexi), Shelby (Mike), Keegan (Julia), Brianna, Jordan, Rylee (Alex), Keziah, Sage, Logan and sixteen great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers Wayne (Shirley) Young, Paul (Chris) Young, sisters-in-law Jan Stone, Dawn Yundt and many nieces and nephews.
David is the son of the late Howard and Doris Young and is predeceased by his brother Ron Young, in-laws Eldon and Norma Yundt, Pete and Thelma Yundt, Jack and Joyce Yundt, Newt Yundt and Joe Yundt.
David was a driver of trucks… ALL trucks – dump truck, milk truck, propane truck, cement truck. He also drove a grader for Elma Township and before retirement was manager at Perth Concrete – St. Mary’s. He enjoyed driving anywhere and everywhere, especially “gravel running”. He loved everything about engines and was probably the longest running subscriber to Popular Mechanics.
He was very proud of his children.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial gathering for David will be held on Thursday, March 6th at The Arden Park Hotel from 1-2 pm with a service commencing at 2 pm. Light refreshments will be available afterward.
