It is with deep sadness we share that David James Martin, age 77 (nee Martin David Shushetzki) passed away peacefully on April 9, 2025, surrounded by the love of his wife and partner of 53 years, Erika, and his sons and best friends, Derek and Ian.
David’s happy adventures included many long and short road trips (a crazy number to Disney World, his favourite place to visit), swimming and hiking on Manitoulin Island (his second favourite place to be), coaching house league baseball and hockey, building and renovating homes, “rodding around” on his Harley or in his Corvette, playing golf and euchre and dancing the night away. He was proud of his Ukrainian/Polish heritage and the tasty food that came with it. Known for his diligence and trustworthiness in business, he always strived for excellence in everything he did.
David loved life and all it had to offer. He worked hard, played hard and laughed much. He cherished the many connections made during his life and time spent with family was everything to him.
We are grateful to the friends and family who so kindly supported him during his lengthy illness. We are appreciative of the compassion shown by his doctors, nurses and PSWs, and the gentle care he received at Matthews House Hospice during his last days. Thank you to all.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Matthews House Hospice in David’s honour. matthewshousehospice.akaraisin.com/ui/MHHFoundation/donations/start
