“The family of the late Dave Penney would like to graciously pass along our gratitude for the support we received during the most emotionally difficult time of our lives. All the messages, calls, meals, and visits were appreciated and helped give us strength when we needed it most.
To everyone who attended his visitation & service – we loved the stories and memories you shared – thank you for helping us maneuver through these changes and allowing us to know how loved and appreciated he was in life.
A final thanks to the staff of Country Haven Funeral Home for guiding us through making his final arrangements. Your kindness and compassion did not go unnoticed, and we are forever grateful for you going above and beyond. – Patti, Sasha, Shawn, Shannon, his three beautiful grandsons & the extended Penney Family.”
It is with profound sadness, and extremely heavy hearts, that we announce the sudden and untimely passing of David “Dave” Shawn Penney on Tuesday, January 21, 2025 at the age of the 61 years.
Dave was the ultimate family man – you could see that in the legacy of love that he sadly leaves behind with his loving wife and partner of 37 years: Patti; his dear children who were his greatest accomplishments, and whom he was so proud of: Sasha (Keith) – his hawk eye, Shawn (Deana) – his mirror image, only bigger, and Shannon (Lizabeth) – his baby; and being left with the biggest void of all are his grandboys: David, Alexander (in heaven with pops), Devin, and Weston. Father-in-Law Brian Blanchard (Christine), and mother-in-law Fern Blanchard.
The proud son of Earl and Rosie Penney (dearly departed) – Dave leaves behind his brothers and sisters: Alex (Elizabeth), Tom, Rod (Sherry), Boyd (Susan), Keith (Dawn), Olive (Larry), Helene, Kay, and Isabel; brothers and sisters-in-law: Nancy (Ellis), Tom (Michelle), Inez, Mike (Charlene), and Alan Noseworthy; special niece: Shara Penney-Payne (Cory); along with a very large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives, dart buddies, and anyone who met him – if you met Dave once, you had a friend for life. Dave was so loved, and was spoke very highly of by whomever he crossed paths with.
Dave was predeceased by his parents, grandson, and niece: Erica White; sister: Boe (Dorothy) Noseworthy; sister-in-law: Sharon Penney; and brother-in-law: Elvis Lewis. Father-in-law Joseph Blanchard.
26 years ago, Dave started his career at Stan Dawe Limited, where he gained a second family: Shawn Dawe, Jim Randell, and Johnny Blackwood (deceased). You were his brothers – thank you. Dave was often heard planning his garden for the spring or talking about the latest project he was going to tackle around the house. He loved hunting, the woods (in general), his game of darts, a wiener roast on the patio, and just the simple things in life. But nothing compared to how much he loved to spend time with his family. They were the light of his life, and he was certainly the light in theirs.
There will be a visitation taking place for family and friends to offer their condolences taking place on Sunday, January 26th, 2025 at Country Haven Funeral Home from the hours of 2-4 PM, and 7-9 PM. The funeral service will take place at 2 PM on Monday, January 27th, 2025 in the Country Haven Chapel with Rev. Terry Loder officiating. Interment to take place at a later date. As expressions of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in Dave’s memory to his family, or to the Penney boys’ education fund.
