Darrell Michael Sabo
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Darrell Michael Sabo on Friday, February 14, 2025, at the age of 61 years.
Darrell was born May 15, 1963, in Edmonton, AB. In 1968, the family moved to Vilna, AB where Darrell went to school. Darrell went on to attain his automotive, agricultural and heavy-duty mechanic licenses. He enjoyed and was proficient in this line of work, and he also found time to work on friends’ vehicles and equipment when not at work. Darrell was always there to help when asked, no matter the circumstance.
Darrell was a life-loving, full spirited individual making the most of every situation. Being diagnosed with cancer six years ago never brought him down as he was determined to continue with his busy, full life. He was a fun-loving person, always joking, full of humour and interesting stories. He made many good friends wherever he lived, and welcomed absolutely everyone in his home, helping in any way that he could.
Darrell enjoyed camping, quadding, spending time with his farming friends, and loved many road trips with his family and friends.
Darrell will be greatly missed by his children, Ashley, Adam (and their mother, Rachida), Cassandra (Sebastian) Schäfer and Mattias; mother, Wilma Sabo; sisters, Ingrid Sabo, Wendy (Richard) Cherniwchan and Darlene (Douglas) Shapka; sister-in-law, Lillian Sabo; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. He will also be lovingly remembered by his special friends which he regarded as family: Alna (Rusty) and family, Albert, Eddy and Lil, in addition to other numerous friends.
Darrell was predeceased by his father, Michael and older brothers, Arthur and Edward.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to the kind and caring doctors and staff of the Cross Cancer Institute, Lamont Health Care Centre, Royal Alexandra Hospital, and Park Memorial Funeral Home.
Cremation has taken place, and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Darrell to Haying in the 30’s Cancer Support Society.
