Darlene’s Obituary
It is with much love we announce the passing of Darlene Robertson on February 08, 2025, at the age of 79 at Clearwater Center, Rocky Mountain House, Alberta.
Darlene was a very strong-willed woman and extremely independent. Unfortunately, that would all come to an end when she was diagnosed with PPA & Frontotemporal Dementia….. We knew our world would never be the same.
Being the Best Mom, Best Friend, Best Everything to her kids: Clint, Rocky, and Martina were her life. She was happiest when family and friends were under one roof where she could mother-hen and fuss over us all. Such a loving sister, mother, aunt, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
She excelled at her own business hairstyling, however her passion and being an amazing cook in Northern Alberta camps lead her to a long-term dietary technician career at the Grimshaw/Berwyn Hospital. The joke was always Dr. Dehaeck would schedule his rounds to coincide when Darlene was making her fresh baked buns (yummiest ever).
Darlene was especially close to her lil sister Marsha and baby brother Beans, always a protector of her siblings hiding from Mom under the bed and the dreaded school nurse when time for annual needles. Conspirator with siblings how to convince Dad the latest animal Beans brought home should stay and be part of the family. This never changed, she loved her animals dearly throughout all her life.
Many countryside drives, hours playing cards, crossword puzzles, and enjoyed watching hockey with her closest, special friend Boone.
Gardening, cooking, coffee chats with friends, shopping at Almyra’s (new purse, scarf or jewelry were high on the list) just a few favorites
Darlene was involved in the community as a member of the Legion, Oil Wives and Red Hat Society. Working and calling bingos, even playing the odd time was her Sundays. Endless hours spent volunteering or helping anyone in need gave her such fulfillment. She could be found at the museum building pies and cinnamon buns by the hundreds with Anne and the Bear Lake Stampede selling entrance tickets and chatting up a storm.
Lovingly remembered by her children Clint (Cindy), Rocky and Martina (Pat); Sister Marsha (Walter); Special friend Boone; Grandchildren Jennifer, Stephanie, Jordan (Chris) and Kirsty (Adrian); Great-grandchildren Samantha, Tavyn and Saphira; Nephews Roderick and Robert; and Niece Crystal.
Darlene was predeceased by her parents Mary and Hank Karst and brother Dennis “Beans” Karst.
Darlene’s remains will be returned home to Grimshaw for interment and a Celebration of Life planned for the Summer of 2025.
Rocky and Sylvan Lake Funeral Homes and Crematorium, your Golden Rule Funeral Homes, entrusted with the arrangements.
