Peacefully at Joseph Brant Hospital on Monday, January 27, 2025 Darlene Gayle Ricker (nee Doubrough) passed away in her 77th year. Beloved wife of David Walter Ricker for 57 years. Loving mother of Jeffrey David (Denise Ann), Laurie Charles (Pamela Marie), and her nephew Steven James, Aaron and Tyler. Proud grandmother of Sarah, Ryan, Samuel, Jacob, Benjamin and Mirissa. Dear sister of Nancy Doyle, †Sheilagh (Al Hyde), Paul (Marlene) Ming, and †Robin Ming; sister-in-law of Matilda Ethelwyn “Tillie” (Ross), †John (Linda), and Carol. Remembered by many nieces and nephews, relatives, friends and the Maple Lodge family.
Darlene was a lifelong resident of Millgrove where she met her beloved husband and raised their family. She was most proud of her family and grandchildren and taught them the importance of commitment and hard work through their chicken farm.
Dave and Darlene had a very blessed retirement, together they travelled to the East Coast, West Coast, Alaska, Texas and spent every summer at the cottage on Tilden Lake where they enjoyed boating, fishing, campfire’s, bbq’s and lots of fun at the lake with family and friends.
Friends are invited to join the family at MILLGROVE CEMETERY, Millgrove Side Road and Concession 5 West on Friday, February 7, 2025 at 11 a.m. A Celebration of Life will follow at FLAMBOROUGH BAPTIST CHURCH, 41 Concession 5 East, Waterdown from 12 – 2 p.m. for fellowship and refreshments. Cremation has taken place. A special thank you to Dr. A. Thompson from Carlisle Medical Centre, the nurses and Dr. ‘s and palliative team at Joe Brant Hospital, Juravinski Hospital, and Karen from the pharmacy. Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy. Please sign the Tribute Wall.
